St. Vincent Teams Up With The Ally Coalition For 'Feel The Pride' Exhibit

In honor of WorldPride NYC, Jack Antonoff's Ally Coalition teamed up with St. Vincent, GLAAD and Microsoft AI Powers for a special immersive installation called "Feel The Pride," dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and a half century of LGBTQ+ liberation

For the new exhibit, which opened to the public on Saturday (July 15), a small group of attendees, including iHeartRadio, walked through the emotional journey behind the concept of Pride. First up, users were encouraged to share what Pride meant to them on a waiting room computer, before Microsoft's Sentiment Analysis translated the messages into a generative sound and light experience. In a separate dark room with an illuminated ceiling display and a centerpiece floor screen, our messages ran across the screen as the sentiment of each impacted the soundscape and light display. The end of the experience encouraged visitors to take action and sign up to be a volunteer, learn more or donate to GLAAD.

"We're here to celebrate Stonewall 50 and the joy and the pride. We're also here to build action," Jeb Gutelius, Executive Director at The Ally Coalition, told the crowd. "Looking at some numbers recently, half of the LGBTQ community lives in states that don't have protections. Sarah McBride at HRC described it really well, where on a Sunday, a couple can be married and on Monday, they can go to work and be fired or kicked of out their housing or restaurant simply for being who they are. We hope that as you come to this experience and leave your thoughts on the Microsoft computers and then come in and see what you created with St. Vincent as the music changes and the lights change. When you leave, there's a wall of action that we brought GLAAD in to help us with and there's a couple different action points you can take there."
