As shown in a viral TikTok, American Idol alum Adam Lambert stopped his show at Hard Rock Live Orlando on Sunday, May 1, 2022 to address the situation surrounding the state's "Parental Rights In Education" bill that was signed into law by Governor Ron DeSantis. The bill, colloquially known as the "Don't Say Gay" bill because of specific language targeting the teaching of human sexuality, has become a flash point in the state as Florida approaches the 2022 elections.

"When I was a kid, I was confused for a long time," Adam explained, "It's hard enough as it is for a queer kid." "If a child can watch 'Beauty & The Beast', 'Aladdin', and all these wonderful fairy tales that we reinforce from age four and up, about a man--a prince, meeting a princess, and falling in love... not only does it promote and groom kids for a very narrow view of men and women, but it also just cuts out all the other real realities in the world today."

Adam continued, "In this world, in 2022, what we've been dealing with the last couple years, the way the world is, the last thing we need to do is divide and silence more people. This should be about equality, acceptance and love...so stick that in your pipe, DeSantis!"

See Adam's full speech below (caution, some language).
